Maybe they compared the model with the base to the one without? The one with base is more expensive in the US too though.
There was a time not so long ago when it was common for chemistry teachers to show off pools of mercury in their bare hands.
By the time I first took chemistry classes, though, that practice had stopped, less out of concern of exposure to liquid mercury and more for accidental exposure to gaseous forms due to spills.
When I was in highschool in the 1960s mercury in the chemistry lab was commonplace.
One way to familiarize students with mercury was to have several liters of it in a wide open-top jar and have them force their fist through the mercury pool to the bottom of the jar.
In fact, forcing one's hand through mercury between six to eight inches deep is not easy, some kids found it too difficult to do.
I'd describe my hand as feeling very squeezed and it being forced upwards to the surface with considerable force. The experience was certainly unforgettable.
There were some safety protocols: good ventilation (to minimize Hg vapor) and afterwards hands had to be thoroughly scrubbed with soap and water.

Big upgrade to memory capacity but memory speed is only going up by a few percent, so its still going to be slow with more than a few B active params (I have one)
Micropython runs on tons of stuff and while it isnt capital-P Python, its close enough for doing a wide variety of embedded work without learning a new language/libraries/etc.
Because process affects performance per watt more than architecture so its a useful data point.
Even knowing nothing about performance, knowing that it is N6 means it probably isnt particularly power efficient (as compared to leading edge x86/ARM).
That chip is actually reasonably power efficient, not very far away from leading edge x86 assuming 180W TDP. At 120W, the RISC-V server is on par or even exceeds the power efficiency of the x86 system.

Yes, though they can also ask for your lab results or to inspect your testing facility and hit you with massive fines if it turns out you falsified your compliance documents. As you mentioned this is very rare though - even enforcement actions against non-certified intentional radiators are uncommon.
Fable got heavily beaten down by its refusals, which is not too surprising; although a couple of problems got refused for reasons I can't even imagine and the page doesn't quote the refusal.
Some of the other failures like the colicky baby one are also probably soft refusals, it's not clear what the grading criteria are but I'm guessing it got docked for not going anywhere near a possible diagnosis.
I've been not just unimpressed by Fable, but actively find it to generate negative value.
It hallucinates more, and in more destructive ways, than other models I've worked with and generates truly atrocious jargon and bizarre inhuman explanations that end up cluttering things. The code it writes is terrible too. Overly complex with a lot of technical debt.

Fable is good in a few very specific domains (graphics programming) but otherwise it's an overhyped model. Far too expensive too. Opus 5 is outright better in every metric.
I honestly find Opus 5 a downgrade too. It's not as bad as fable, but nearly so, and is very argumentative. It'll straight up ignore directives and design decisions.
If it's overcomplicating and has poor explanations this seems like a harness/prompting issue?
Fable is very steerable. For me it makes the "simplest thing that works" and - once I tuned it - very understandable explanations. (Unsteered, I agree that Fable's writing style is too cryptic.)
I can let it loose on a 12+ hour task and it will test and verify everything autonomously. These days most of my work is done by letting Fable just run overnight, while my days consist of meetings/planning to figure out what I want Fable to build next.
