The general problem I have with this is that I think those C-level executive should be doing C-level stuff and not programmer stuff. If you're using AI to help with your main job, great! If you're using AI to do someone else's work, then I think maybe you should change jobs. If you want to be a programmer, go for it! But not at the expense of your "real" job.
I'm pretty sure the C-level people don't want us programmers faffing around with their roles. Why are they encroaching into ours? Don't they already have enough to do; setting the direction of the company, making sure it's profitable, selling things to people, etc.?
It very much depends what projects they are coding. One thing agentic coding is really good for is developing highly specific custom applications specifically for your own use case. This can include the kinds of decision support and analytics tasks a C-level relies on to understand how their organisation is functioning, what's actually going on, and where the gaps are.
My team is using coding agents to develop analytics and reporting applications, and an engineering automation application, specific to our needs, that simply would not exist otherwise. The cost and time would be far too great. I can easily imagine there are plenty of cases like this, for all sorts of roles, including managerial ones, where only the person doing the job understands the job well enough to specify a requirement and guide an agent to code exactly what they need.
This is pretty cool. I recently purchased some used rims for my car and they have some pretty bad road rash (scratches). I've been playing with TinkerCAD for a bit trying to create a sanding block that would conform to the rim and the bead but it's been harder than expected. Printytron knocked something out in 3 requests and I think it will work pretty well. So, thanks for this project.
If these models can be converted to a parameterized FreeCAD model (or something similar) then it would be cool to be able to download them and change them dynamically. Say, I want to sand down my 22" rims. I wouldn't have to rerun Printytron, I could just change the parameter in the FreeCAD model. Of course, this could be a paid option.

Yeah, I'm currently working on how to get other export file types. I want to avoid charging for the service directly and try monetize through printing services or something if I have to monetize. But you're right, alternative export options might be a good premium feature of I had to go that route.
Wow, that’s a great idea! I loved keybase back in the day and really thought it solved a real world problem in a unique and interesting way. Then Zoom bought it (for some reason) and left it to rot.
You might already know and used "for some reason" as sarcasm. For those that do not: Zoom did the usual aqui-hire. They needed to show their enterprise customers they were taking e2e encryption seriously, so they bought out the guys who did exactly that kind of encryption with Keybase.
A shame really, because Keybase was kind of unique in the way the facilitated social proof of identity tied to cryptographic keys. A shame though that they never found a really sustainable business model. When they turned to crypto currency towards the end of their independent run I knew it probably wouldn't last.
the UX was so terrible that it was inevitable it won't stick. It was clunky and alien on every productivity platform, I attempted to work in a team leveraging it, and it was painful on windows and macos alike.
I just deleted it as I noticed it was responsible of about 30% of active cpu (and battery drain) usage on my mac, while being logged out due to inactivity. Honestly: I never particularly liked it, and I could not feel the concept especially tempting, just went with the team.
All of this secret back and forth with pricing and models and such is really giving me the willies. I'm very much not on the AI bandwagon but I can see that it has it's uses. However, I'm starting to think that maybe it's all just a smokescreen to allow these big companies to do something more ... nefarious.
Are they just playing with parameters or are they doing something more? Is this really like a JVM, where there are thousands of knobs to turn and buttons to push and is' nearly impossible to make the right choice? Are they capturing our data and thoughts and dreams only to turn them back on us in the future?
I think every day that passes causes me to trust "AI", and the companies behind it, less and less.
I haven't upgraded to WiFi 5 yet and it looks like being cheap|lazy is paying off.
Seriously though, this is some pretty interesting|scary stuff. This new technique doesn't require any modifications to the WiFi network at all and can even be done without authenticating. It looks like someone could just sit outside the building and track people's movement through the walls.
I can see AI being a problem and a solution in this case. My view is that most "corporate" coding is not developer bound but PM bound. So, AI doesn't really accelerate development that much. However, in something like the Linux kernel we have lots of people working on lots of little things all over the place and I can see AI allowing a lot more code to be written.
Of course, the downside is that the maintainers have to wade through all the code and not all of it is going to be great stuff. In fact, the easier it is to generate the code the worse the quality will be, I think. So, just like everything else, this is a double edged sword.

I've heard this before in previous corporate jobs and the data ALWAYS ends up being used somewhere else. Usually in job performance reviews or tax documents about new vs maintenance work.
I think that an eventual consequence of using AI is that more and more of these things will happen. Like you, I'm experienced enough to know that you separate environments completely; nothing shared. This is wisdom and something AI will never obtain. The up-and-coming programmers and engineers using AI for everything will never learn these lessons because they won't be exposed to the problems or really forced to think about these outcomes.

Agreed! My $DAYJOB is an Apple shop and the Apple "Business" offerings are horrible. No support for a proper business developer account is annoying. A single human is responsible for this and when that human moves to a different company or role then you have to reassign the account to a different human. Configuring SSO is another trap. You have to capture a domain to add SSO but after you do that your users can't access the Apple App Store (for some reason).
There are so many places that Apple could improve their "Business" business, but they seem hell bent on not doing that. Maybe Mr. Ternus will address this issue.
